Existentialism

In my opinion, existentialism is one of the most advanced ways of thinking.  And I kind of like it. The freedom to choose your own destiny, and accept the consequences. If it wasn't SO undefined, I would almost consider myself an existentialist with a religion. Meaning should only have an effect on those who place the importance on something, and it shouldn't affect everyone. That's what I like about it.

So we beat on....

In my opinion, Nick is touching on the famous saying of in which Gatsby says you can repeat the past. At first Nick doesn't agree with Gatsby that the past can be repeated, by it seems he has come to new conclusions by the end of the book. In my own summary form I would say that the quote means that people just  keep going on, pushing against the many trials of life, continuously turned back into their own past. It's like a person is walking in a rut, and you can't change the rut of the path, only keep going forward or falling backwards to walk the path again.

"The American Dream"

Education is always the answer! But seriously, I truly believe that the regulation of education is what is going to reverse the gap between "The American Dream" haves and have-nots. Working hard is also directly related, and is necessary at a young age. Teenagers especially need to take into account that school is important at a young age and is an important link to your entire life. Succeeding at a young age, will lead to succeeding at an older age.

Olympics

One of the biggest regrets of my life: not becoming a member of the US mens curling team. I truly believe I would have not only excelled, but dominated in the sport. While many simple-minded people might believe that the sport is non-athletic I disagree. It must take a lot of focus and intense skill to place the curling rock where it is supposed to go. There is also a lot of math the most likely goes into the progress, so I believe that it would be a gold-medal sport for me.

Originality or Plagiarism

I feel as though true originality is one of the most difficult things to create, because every idea comes from another. This is evident everywhere in life. However, creative genius is still a product of plagiarism. I think that is maybe one of the most important aspect of new things, able to create them from another. So while I don't know if all work is plagiarized, I think that most creative genius is influenced immensely by the work of others.

book/film recommendation

SInce I read it almost 5 years ago, I have recommended the book, World Without End, to everyone who has been in need for a book. Written by Ken Follett, the books tells the story of a cathedral town in England throughout a bitter conflict between England and France. It is filled with drama, suspense, tragedy, and an amazing plot. The novel, is a little dense, so I would only suggest this book to those who have enough time to read or endurance to read a 1,000 page book.

Life List

What kind of chances can you take to life more fully?
1) Branch out and become friends with more new people.
2) Don't judge things at first glance.
3) Try new things (especially foods).
4) Exercise more to build  up my body.
5) Don't get stressed over the little things.
